Kyle Hardy waves the checkers in Path Valley's victory lane.
What won the race: Powering by race-long pacesetter Michael Lake on lap 29, third-starting Kyle Hardy of Stephens City, Va., led the rest of Friday's 35-lap Night of Power at Path Valley Speedway, winning $5,000 on the Jay's Automotive United Late Model Series. Hardy took the checkers 2.435 seconds ahead of Lake to grab his sixth career series victory and his second straight after topping last year's $3,500 stop.
Key notes: There have been seven winners through the first seven series events to start the season. ... Series points leader, Lake, of Uniontown, Pa., led the opening 28 laps from the pole before giving way to Hardy. ... Dillan Stake trailed Lake on two separate occasions before settling for third. ... Appalachian Mountain Speedweek champ Gregg Satterlee improved two spots and finished fourth. ... Jason Covert gained five spots and placed eighth. ... Ryan Montgomery ran as high as sixth in the early going before slipping to 13th. ... The 35-lap weekend opener was slowed by three cautions and lasted 14 minutes, with 15 drivers completing the distance. ... Tyler Emory scratched for the night after timing in fifth in qualifying.
