What won the race: Hometown driver Ross Robinson led all 25 laps Thursday at Georgetown Speedway for a $5,000 Super Late Model victory in the unsanctioned Camp Barnes Benefit. Robinson's third victory of the season at the half-mile oval came by 2.022 seconds over runner-up Rick Eckert with the winner's wife (and crew chief) Amanda Robinson third.
Quotable: "We have a good package. It just seems to work no matter how far — I've said it before — no matter how far I get lost, I can always come home and I just think the package works," Robinson said. "And I owe lot of that to (Rick Eckert who) was chasing me and making me earn it, too. He's helped me out a lot this year and I'm grateful for it. ... It's cool to get redemption from losing Camp Barnes last year when we were leading and had a part failure. (And) to see this place full like this for what this means for the kids and the state police."
Key notes: Ross Robinson won March 29 at Georgetown in the $3,026 Mark "Coot" Williams Memorial and again May 31 for another $3,000 payday. ... Seven of 12 starters completed 25 laps. ... Donald Lingo Jr., who broke a driveshaft in hot laps and didn't compete in his heat race, retired from the feature on the eighth lap. ... Besides Lingo, Danny Snyder and Shaun Jones also retired before the checkered flag. ... Amanda Robinson narrowly edged Rick Eckert in the first heat and Ross Robinson won the second heat. ... The longtime event benefits Camp Barnes, which is operated by the Delaware State Police.
On the move: Runner-up Rick Eckert of York, Pa., started sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Robinson's Rocket Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Stockley Materials, Stockley Speed & Supply, Commonwealth Equipment, Atlantic Prime Mortgage, The Frozen Farmer, First State Roof & Exterior Cleaning, Stockley Tavern, J.D. Shuckers, Hardscrabble Express, the Champlain Family and the Scott Family.
