What won the race: Reclaiming the point from Mike Palasini Jr. on a lap-16 restart, second-starting Chad Thrash of Meridian, Miss., never looked back en route to winning Saturday's $3,000 Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series stop at Greenville Speedway. Thrash led twice for 34 laps (1-9, 16-40) to tally his second MSCCS victory of the season — $2,500 on March 29 at Hattiesburg (Miss.) Speedway — and the 24th of this career.
Key notes: Fourth-starting Palasini, of Leland, Miss., led laps 10-15 before being overtaken by Thrash and taking the checkers 1.485 seconds back. ... Ross Camponovo also took advantage of the lap-16 restart and grabbed third. ... Pole-starting Brian Rickman appeared to tangle with Brett Frazier as they battled within the top five, drawing the race's third caution on lap seven. Frazier was unable to continue, while Rickman tagged the field before rebounding to fourth. ... Cameron Weaver and Tanner Kellick both retired on lap 18 after the fifth and final stoppage. ... The main event lasted 29 minutes, with eight drivers completing 40 laps and 11 running at the finish.
On the move: Terry Henson of North Little Rock, Ark., started 15th and finished 10th.
Winner's sponsors: Thrash's Rocket Chassis carries sponsorship from Miller Lite, Jackson Industries, Thrash Pest Control, X-Treme Graphics by J-Rod, Hoosier Tire and Integra Racing Shocks.
