Michael Page discusses his first Schaeffer's Southern Nationals victory.
What won the race: Rocketing by Payton Freeman on a lap-13 restart, sixth-starting Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., controlled the rest of Saturday's 44-lap Roscoe Smith Classic at Senoia Raceway. Page earned a $7,544 payday in the Schaeffer's Southern Nationals season finale and his first career series victory. It's Page's second career Smith Classic triumph (2022) and his 11th major event win at Senoia dating back to August 2016 with more than $50,000 earnings during that span.
Quotable: “This place will make you get up on the damn wheel hard. I don’t know, if you slow down you get worse and you drive like a damn maniac, you somehow get fast,” Page said. “You just hope you hit (the restart timing) right, (Payton Freeman) did what he was supposed to do and block it, but he left me just enough (room). I had that run, I didn’t know if I was going in the wall, or gonna take the lead, but you just gotta take that chance and it worked ... sometimes it don’t work.”
Key notes: Page is the second first-time series winner in as many races after Payton Freeman won Friday's $7,553 opener at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Ala. ... Spencer Hughes regained the runner-up spot from Freeman on the final lap and finished 3.380 seconds behind Page. Freeman settled for third after leading the opening 12 laps from the pole. ... Austin Horton improved five positions and finished fourth after breaking while leading on Friday. ... Dalton Cook overcame an opening-lap spin to finish fifth. ... Bubba Pollard gained six spots and placed eighth at the track owned and operated by his family. ... Matt Dooley finished ninth aboard a No. 44 machine wrapped to look like the car made famous by Clint Smith. Smith is in the Class of 2024 with the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. ... The non-points event honored Clint's father and racing veteran, Roscoe Smith. ... Six cautions slowed the racing action, with two coming at the initial start after muticar incidents involving Cook, Corey Roulette, Caleb Gay, Dillon Tidmore and Colton Leyendecker. Tidmore and Leyendecker both retired before officially completing a lap. ... The third stoppage was displayed on lap 13 when Allen Styck slowed. He completed a handful more laps before pulling off. ... Third-running Austin Smith suffered a flat tire two laps earlier and pulled off under green. He had been battling Page and Horton prior to the flat. ... The fourth yellow flag allowed the infield medical crew to cross the track on lap 23. ... Mark Page slowed from eighth on lap 32 and Kyler Haygood's solo-spin on the ensuing restart attempt were the final two slowdowns. ... The feature lasted 32 minutes, with 13 competitors completing 44 laps and 14 running at the checkers.
On the move: Tour Rookie of the Year Gavin Cowan of Rincon, Ga., started 21st and finished 10th.
Winner's sponsors: Page’s Reg Cole-owned Rocket Chassis carries sponsorship from Southern Ridge Home & Development, Troy Baird of Baird Truck & Trailer Sales, ML Masonry, JC Bonding, OD Hydroseeding, Rain Warrior Gutters, CSR Aluminum Fabrication, ML Performance Shocks, DirtCarLift.com, Hoosier Tire and Modern Images.
Points chase: Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., was crowned series champion on July 27 at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway.

Time: 15.370 seconds
