Steve Casebolt grabbed his first-ever victory at Attica.
What won the race: Second-starting Steve Casebolt of Richmond, Ind., outran polesitter Doug Drown of Wooster, Ohio, for a $2,000 Sunoco American Late Model Series victory at Attica Raceway Park.
Quotable: “We kind of got to struggling there at the end. I felt like we were good at the beginning. Lapped cars were difficult to deal with. I’ve been here several times…been coming here a long time and have had a lot of seconds and never had won one so we finally broke the jinx,” said Casebolt of his Lias Tire/JE Pistons backed c9.
Key notes: Casebolt has two victories on the 2015 season. He captured his first career World of Outlaws Late Model Series triumph at Screven Motor Speedway on Feb. 6. .... Friday's win marks Casebolt's sixth career Sunoco American Late Model Series victory. His last came at Eldora Speedway back in July. ... Runner-up finisher Doug Drown was last year's ALMS winner at Attica. ... The ALMS will travel to Eldora on Saturday for night two of a weekend doubleheader.
On the move: Matt Irey, the previous week's regular season winner, started sixth and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Casebolt's Club 29 Race Car is powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and carries sponsorship from Lias Tire, Preferred Sandblasting & Paints, Riesbeck's Food Markets and Sudz Car Wash.
Points chase: Entering Friday's event, Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., had 160 points over Brian Shirley and Ricky Weiss (125).
Car count: 36
Polesitter: Doug Drown
Heat race winners: Steve Casebolt, Doug Drown, Ryan Missler, Ryan Markham
