Jesse Stovall gives the thumbs up in Springfield's victory lane.
What won the race: Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., swept MARS DIRTcar Series weekend action, outrunning Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., for a $3,000 victory in the 30-lap feature at Springfield Raceway. Stovall overtook Jeremy Payne of Springfield, Mo., for the lead on lap eight and never looked back.
Quotable: "All in all, it was an awesome race," Stovall said. "When this racetrack races like that, it's one of the better places in the Midwest to race on."
Key notes: Stovall has 20 career MARS series victories after sweeping the weekend doubleheader in his home state. He was also the winner of Friday's tour event at Monett Speedway. ... Jackson, who was the winner of the MARS event at Springfield on March 21, outdueled Payne for second on lap 13 and ran in the position to the finish. ... MARS competitors will return to the speedway on June 20.
