Bub McCool emerges from his winning car in victory lane.
What won the race: Fourth-starting Bub McCool of Vicksburg, Miss., overtook second-starting Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., on the sixth lap and lead the remaining 40-lap distance for a $2,500 victory at Magnolia Motor Speedway. The triumph gave him a sweep of the tour's weekend doubleheader and his third straight win overall.
Quotable: “I always love coming to Magnolia, but this place has a history of giving me fits,” McCool said. “Tonight though the car was awesome. I have to thank my car owner, Randy Thompson, along with my crew, fans, and sponsors for their great support.”
Key notes: The race was co-sanctioned by the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series and Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series. ... McCool has 17 career MSCCS victories and four career Comp Cams victories. ... McCool also won Friday's co-sanctioned event at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway. ... The feature's first caution flew on lap 23 when Brian Rickman slowed on the racetrack. ... Only 16 of the race's 24 starters finished. ... Billy Moyer Jr. was a surprise entrant, making his first start since announcing his "indefinite leave from racing" on April 20. He was leading the first heat race when his car began to show smoke, forcing him to retire and ultimately leaving him on the sidelines for the feature.
On the move: Dane Dacus of Lakeland, Tenn., rallied from the 16th starting position to finish third. Clay Fisher of Dewitt, Ark., charged from the 18th starting spot to finish sixth.
Winner's sponsors: McCool's Club 29 Race Car has Jay Dickens power and sponsorship from BBB Triple Trucking, Good Hope, Hoosier Tire South, Little Randy's Hunting Camp, McCool Logging, MSR Mafia, RBT Motorsports, Schaeffer's Racing Oil and Thompson's Auto Repair.
Points chase: Leaving Magnolia, Garrett Alberson of Las Cruces, N.M., has 385 points to lead Kyle Beard (381) and Jack Sullivan (375).
