What won the race: Walker Arthur of Forest, Va., roared past Pennsylvanians Michael Lake and Max Blair with a high-side move on a lap-23 restart and drove away to victory by 2.521 seconds. The $2,000 victory gave Arthur a weekend sweep on the RUSH tour.
Quotable: "I didn't have any idea we'd be able to get that pulled off around the top," said Arthur. "I got lucky that Michael and Max went low, and we were able to get around the top down there. I did what I had to do there on that restart, and I want to thank Max for being such a clean racer. Him and I raced hard. I believe it was his race to win if that last caution hadn't come out. They had harder tires on than I did and that caution really hurt them. If they'd had stayed up high, I wouldn't have been able to do anything with them, but it worked out for us as I was real good around the top. I want to thank the series for putting these races on and two fantastic race tracks for having us."
Key notes: The fourth-starting Arthur became the second straight driver to sweep the Mid-Atlantic States Classic weekend, with Rick Singleton accomplishing the feat in 2014. ... He also won Friday at Potomac Speedway and made his first-ever appearances with the tour. ... Lake led the first 23 laps after starting second. ... Fourth-finishing Tyler Hershey subbed for Jennae Piper, who attended homecoming. ... The 30-lap feature was slowed by four cautions — one on lap 13 and three on lap 23. ... Matt Glanden set fast time despite losing power steering. ... Logan Roberson, Jamie Sutphin, Scott Sweeney, Walter Nichols and James O'Hara all had qualifying times disallowed after weighing in light.
On the move: Brian Knowles of Addison, N.Y., earned the Precise Racing Products "Pedal Down Hard Charger" after improving 13 positions.
