Rain, hail knock out UMP special at Farmer City
FARMER CITY, Ill. (June 19) — Torrential late-afternoon rain and hailstorms that hit Farmer City Raceway on Friday forced the third rainout of the week on the 27-race UMP DIRTcar Summernationals.
No makeup date was officially announced at the quarter-mile fairgrounds oval, but track and series officials were considering a $6,000-to-win event on Monday, June 29. | Complete Summernationals coverage
The cancellation is the third in four nights at Illinois tracks with Tuesday's event at Highland Speedway rained out and rescheduled for July 1, and Thursday's event at Charleston Speedway also washed away with no makeup date announced.
The series heads to Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway on Saturday for a $10,000-to-win event at the quarter-mile oval just south of the Kentucky-Tennessee border.
After five series events, two-time and defending series champion Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., leads the tour with 309 points and is gunning for his third straight feature victory. Kevin Weaver of Gibson City, Ill., is second with 306 points followed by two-time runner-up Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, Ill.
Erb's victories came Sunday at Quad-City Raceway in East Moline, Ill., and Wednesday at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Ill.
