Citing forecasts for weather in the upper 90s, Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Ill., cancelled its second DIRTcar Summer Nationals event, the series announced. | Complete Summer Nationals coverage
The cancellation is the third announced by the series over the past five days and, coupled with a scheduled Fourth of July break, gives drivers a three-day break next week before returning to action Thursday at Macon (Ill.) Speedway’s Herald & Review 100.
Fayette County’s decision joins the July 5 cancellation of a Charleston (Ill.) Speedway event and Wednesday’s scrapping of an event at Benton (Mo.) Speedway, a race scratched because of unfavorable track conditions after an attempt to time trial the Super Late Model division.
Fayette County hosted the series Thursday with four-time champion Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., recording his 101st career victory to break a tie with Billy Moyer atop the all-time tour victories list. Charlie Depew had announced he was step away from promoting following the track’s second tour event.
