From staff reports
BARBERVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 12) — Tuesday's second round of the Alltel DirtCar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park has been canceled because of inclement weather, according to the track website. The event is scheduled to continue Wednesday, highlighted by a 30-lap, $7,000-to-win UMP DirtCar Series feature at the D-shaped track near Daytona.
Another UMP feature is scheduled for Friday at Volusia with the winner earning $10,000. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series opens its season with a $10,000-to-win feature on Thursday and wraps up the week with a $10,000-to-win feature on Saturday.
Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., continuing his strong Florida Speedweeks performances, outdueled polesitter Jimmy Owens early in Monday's opener and cruised to a victory.
