What won the race: Polesitter Josh Putnam of Florence, Ala., recorded his fourth XR Southern All Star Series victory in Friday’s Walter Combs Memorial at Mountain Motorsports Park. He collected $4,000 for his repeat victory with the tour.
Quotable: "These guys that work on this car, they just keep digging and they keep putting it back together when I tear it up, and keep pushing me along," Putnam said. "But maybe we got something rolling here now."
Key notes: Billy Franklin of Calera, Ala., who is currently second in XR Southern All Star Series point standings, rebounded to finish third after pitting on lap 26 with a flat tire. ... The doubleheader weekend shifts to Richmond Raceway on Saturday for the Finn Watson Memorial, paying $7,500 to the winner.
