Billy Franklin’s team in victory lane at Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla.
What won the race: After apparent race winner Ashton Winger was disqualified for being light at the scales, Billy Franklin of Calera, Ala., inherited the win on opening night of the Battle at the Beach doubleheader at Southern Raceway. Franklin, a former Southern All Star Series champion, earned his first career series victory, worth $3,000.
Quotable: "I'm speechless. I hate that for Ashton. ... I don't know how to act to be honest with you," Franklin said. "I'm kind of shocked. I mean, we were really good. Ashton is one of the best drivers in the country. I couldn't keep up with him. ... This is big. This might be my last year (racing Supers), like full time."
