Key notes: The 19th annual Wild West Shootout returns to FK Rod Ends Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park for the fourth straight season, taking place at the state-of-the-art facility located just off of I-10 between Las Cruces, N.M., and El Paso, Texas. … Wednesday’s third round was postponed to Thursday by extreme winter weather. … Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., led the final 31 laps to win Saturday’s $25,000 opener, then outdueled Brandon Sheppard and used a last-lap pass to win Sunday’s second round, worth $10,000. Pierce now holds the all-time lead with 14 career feature wins and chases his third career miniseries championship (2024, ’17). … Sheppard, of New Berlin, Ill., looks for his first win aboard a brand-new Rocket XR1.2 chassis. … Garrett Alberson of nearby Las Cruces, N.M., led the opening 29 laps in Saturday’s opener before settling for second. … Race formats include time trials, heat races and consolations preceding each night’s feature; the Jan. 12 finale is slated to be a 50-lap main event. … Points are awarded nightly, with the driver earning the most points across all six races receiving a $3,000 bonus (an additional $7,000 will be distributed among the top 10 in points). … Practice was set for 4-8 p.m. Tuesday; the cost is $250 per car (no pit passes required). … Modifieds and X-Mods are on the undercard. … Watch live on FloRacing.
