Notes: The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series hosts its first event since July’s Silver Dollar Nationals as the tour invades Florence Speedway for the 41st annual Sunoco North-South 100 presented by Lucas Oil, the tour's second-richest event. … Action kicks off with two 25-lap, $5,000-to-win split-field semifeatures on Thursday and Friday, with points being awarded each night. Total accumulative points will be used to set the lineups for Saturday’s heat races, which precede consolations and the 100-lap, $75,000-to-win finale; A $2,000-to-win non-qualifiers' race will follow Saturday's North-South 100 feature. … Newly ranked as the No. 1 driver in DirtonDirt.com’s weekly poll, Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., has secured four feature victories thus far in August and collected more than $90,000; Pierce will seek his second career North-South 100 triumph after topping 2016’s crown jewel event. … Lucas Oil Series points leader Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., eyes his third feature win of the season at Florence after topping May 6’s $15,000 Ralph Latham Memorial and May 31’s $23,023 Castrol FloRacing Series stops there. … Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., enters as the defending North-South 100 winner and chases his third career event title. … Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tenn., and Jack Boggs of Grayson, Ky., lead all drivers with three North-South 100 victories apiece. … Booper Bare, Jackie Boggs, Mike Boland, Rick Egersdorf and Randy Korte are 2023’s National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame driver inductees; contributor inductees: Ozzie Altman, Gary Oliver and Ernie Elkins.
