Notes: The 2017 USA Nationals marks the 30th running of the crown-jewel event that began in 1988. The event is sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series. … The two-day format features times trials, heat races and a dash on Friday that will be used to set the top 18 drivers for Saturday’s 100-lap finale. Saturday’s action includes consolation races to set the remainder of the starting grid. The top two finishers in each heat race will qualify for the dash. The dash finish determines how they will start in the A-main. … Complete programs for NASCAR-sanctioned Late Models is scheduled for Friday and Saturday. … The weekend kicks off Thursday with a complete program paying $6,000-to-win for the World of Outlaws along with a full program for USRA Limited Late Models. … Fifteen drivers have won the USA Nationals, eight of them more than once; Hall of Fame drivers Scott Bloomquist and Billy Moyer top the list with five wins each. … Moyer’s five victories came from 1988-1993, the first six editions of the event. He has 25 feature appearances, including the first 15. … Along with his five wins, Moyer has four runner-up finishes. … There have been five winners over the last five years. … Two-time winner Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., is the only home-state winner. … The volunteer-supported Fans Fund raised $28,000 to help draw long-traveling drivers to the race, and drivers from that group expected to be in a special $2,500-to-win dash on Friday are G.R. Smith, Brian Shirley, Michael Lake, Justin Duty, Chad Zobrist, Craig Vosbergen, Kyle Bronson, Ricky Weiss, Dale McDowell, Jason Feger, Tyler Bruening, Jake O’Neil, Bobby Pierce, Tim McCreadie and Kent Robinson.
