Don Shaw captured his 13th career victory on the NLRA circuit.
What won the race: Starting outside the front row, Don Shaw of Ham Lake, Minn., led all 25 laps of Thursday's Northern LateModel Racing Association feature at Norman County Speedway for his 13th career series feature victory.
Quotable: “I got the luck of the draw for first, and the feature draw really helped. I knew once I got in the lead there I just needed to save the tires,” Shaw said. “I tell you, once you’re out front like that, the clean air really helps on these cars and stuff. When the yellows come out, it didn’t bother me except that I think I’m running low on fuel."
Key notes: Shaw also won a series race at Norman County in 2015. ... Shaw, who took the checkers 1.402 seconds ahead of runner-up Dave Mass, notched his second NLRA victory of the season as the tour visited Norman County for the 23rd time. … Polesitter Ryan Corbett slipped back to fifth early and retired after 11 laps. ... Fifteen drivers finished on the lead lap. ... The traditional pork chop feed followed the night’s racing.
On the move: Mike Greseth of Harwood, N.D., started 23rd and finished seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Shaw’s Capital Race Car has a Vic Hill Racing Engine and sponsorship from Shaw Trucking, Blaine Brothers, Sure Step, Dehn Oil, Northern Metal Recycling, SIDUMP’R Trailer Co., Village Bank and Lube-Tech.
