Tim McCreadie takes the checkers for $10,000 at Huset's.
What won the race: Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., picked up his fourth Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory of the season Tuesday, leading the final 11 circuits of the 40-lap feature at Huset's Speedway. He beat Mike Marlar to the finish line by 1.942 seconds for the $10,000 top prize in the tour's debut at the third-mile sprint-car stronghold.
Quotable: “I'm kind of flirting around, trying to figure what would work best for me. And when we caught some traffic, I just think I was a little more maneuverable than the guys I was racing with at the time," McCreadie said. "I felt really good through (turns) three and four but like I said, if I could go in here and touch it and get my car and get up in the air and come down that hill, man that thing felt like it was just digging.”
Key notes: McCreadie, the defending series champ, extended his points lead with his 32nd career victory on the tour. ... McCreadie dogged Ricky Thornton Jr. until finally grabbing the lead on lap 30. He wasn't challenged following a restart with eight laps remaining. ... McCreadie was the race's third leader following Tyler Erb (1-12) and Thornton, who paced laps 13-29 before fading to finish seventh. ... Marlar moved to second on lap 36 after breaking free of a battle with Brandon Sheppard, who finished fourth behind Erb. ... Hudson O'Neal lowered the track record in time trials. ... The series moves on to I-80 Speedway this Thursday-Saturday for the Silver Dollar Nationals.
On the move: Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., started 12th and finished second.
Winner's sponsors: McCreadie’s Paylor Motorsports Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and sponsored by Mega Plumbing of the Carolinas, Mega Electrical Services, Racing for Heroes, Armslist.com, New Point Lighting & Design, Baker Mitchell Company, D&E Marine and Bilstein.
