QUINCY, Ill. (June 19) — Updates and results from the fifth round of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals at Adams County Speedway, an event highlighted by a 30-lap, $5,000-to-win feature for Super Late Models (results unofficial):
Feature
Overtaking Daryn Klein early and fending off a late-race challenge from Jason Feger, high-running Max McLaughlin of Mooresville, N.C., won Wednesday's 30-lap DIRTcar Summer Nationals stop at Adams County Speedway. The fourth-starting McLaughlin led 25 laps — including the final 24 — for a $5,000 payday, the first of his career on the Midwestern tour. McLaughlin snapped Tyler Erb's 4-for-4 streak to open the series as Erb ran into trouble in heat action. The series points leader made a 14th-to-seventh charge in the feature.

Heat race recap
Third-starting Max McLaughlin executed a perfect last-lap pass to nip race-long leader Spencer Diercks by 0.330 of a second at the line to win the first heat race. Pole-starting Billy Moyer finished third while fifth-starting Justin Reed grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot into Wednesday’s 30-lap, $5,000-to-win feature. … Pole-starting Jason Feger led all eight laps to win heat two by 1.837 seconds over third-starting Will Roland. Allen Weisser finished third followed by sixth-starting Jake Little, who claimed the final transfer position. … Fourth-starting Garrett Smith led the final two laps to win heat three by 1.138 seconds over seventh-starting Matt Furman. Tyler Erb led the opening six laps from the pole before Tyler Clem’s lap-seven slider landed on the front of Erb’s nose, causing him to spin at the exit of turn four. Both drivers tagged the field, with Erb finishing fourth and Clem taking fifth. Kye Blight rebounded to finish third after a lap-seven mishap when Austin Howes slowed abruptly in front of him, sending him spinning to avoid. The race’s first caution flew at the initial start when it was called back after Clem was deemed to jump the flag. … Daryn Klein led green-to-checkered to win the fourth and final heat race, taking the checkers 2.332 seconds ahead of fourth-starting Clay Stuckey. Dillon McCowan finished third, with fifth-starting Frank Heckenast Jr. rounding out the top-four finishers.
