What won the race: Grabbing the lead on the 16th lap as early leader Ryan Missler tangled with Adam Stricker, second-starting Josh Rice of Verona, Ky., led the rest of Friday's 17th annual Ike Moler Memorial at MRP Raceway Park. Rice's $5,000 payday in the 40-lap feature marked his second Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series victory of the season and the 15th of his career, further extending his lead on the tour's all-time win list.
Key notes: Rice notched his third overall victory of the season and first Iron-Man Series triumph since June 15 at Mudlick Valley Raceway in Wallingford, Ky. ... Ryan Missler led the opening 15 laps from the pole but a caution flew after the Missler-Adam Strickler tangle on the 16th lap that drew a caution and put Rice on the point for the restart. ... Missler restarted on the tail, then slowed with rim and tire problems on the 37th lap, pitting to end up ninth. ... Stricker finished second, 0.504 of a second behind Rice. ... Points leader Rusty Schlenk finished third. ... Seth Daniels gained six spots and finished fourth. ... Jordan Wever started 20th and finished 10th. ... Devin Gilpin was running second when he had a flat on the lap-37 caution; he retired. ... The 40-lapper lasted 27 minutes, with eight drivers completing the distance and 16 running at the finish.
On the move: R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, Ohio, started 18th and finished sixth.
