What won the race: Powering by early leader Josh Rice on lap 22, 10th-starting Jason Jameson paced the rest of Saturday's 40-lap feature at his hometown Lawrenceburg Speedway to secure an emotional $5,000 victory co-sanctioned by the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series and the Ultimate Heart of America Series. Winning just five days after the death of his crew chief Jeff Gullett, Jameson notched his third career Iron-Man Series triumph and his first on the Ultimate HofA.
Quotable: “It’s been a rough, rough week-and-a-half. It means the world to me and everybody standing right here," Jameson said. "No words can describe what that feels like to be able to pull this off tonight for (the late Jeff Gullett)."
Key notes: Jameson secured his second overall victory of the season. His first came in Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series action Aug. 23 at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky. ... Ironically, Jameson's last Iron-Man Series win also came at Lake Cumberland on Aug. 25, 2018. ... The polesitting Rice led 20 of the first 21 laps before giving way to Jameson. He then pulled off under a lap-26 caution with a hole in his radiator and was credited with 16th. ... Kody Evans grabbed the runner-up spot on a lap-32 restart and took the checkers a distant 4.523 seconds behind Jameson. ... Iron-Man points leader Rusty Schlenk trailed Jameson for laps 29-31 before giving way to Evans and settling for third. ... Devin Gilpin gained eight spots and placed fourth. ... Adam Stricker led lap seven before Rice regained control the following circuit; Stricker pursued Jameson for laps 26-28 before eventually slipping to fifth. ... Cyle Forgy started 20th and finished 11th to take the Ultimate HofA Series points lead with one race remaining. ... Austin Lay spun on lap 32 to draw the race's fifth and final caution; he continued and finished 12th. ... Larry Martin Jr. slowed with race-ending right-front suspension damage to cause the fourth stoppage on lap 29. ... Ryan Missler slowed from eighth to trigger the second yellow flag on lap 26 before calling it a night. ... The main event lasted 34 minutes, with eight starters completing 40 laps and 13 running at the finish.
