Sam Seawright celebrates his $12,000 Talladega victory.
What won the race: Navigating a bottom-grooved Talladega Short Track amid tricky lapped traffic, Sam Seawright of Rainsville, Ala., outran teammate Michael Page and Ryan Gustin to lead all 50 laps for Saturday's $12,000 Bama Bash victory on the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series. Page finished 0.221 seconds behind with Gustin hot on his heels.
Quotable: "This is the biggest win of my career," Seawright said in victory lane. "(Baird Seawright Racing teammate) Michael (Page) works hard for me and makes sure my car is awesome every time I roll onto the track. ... I'm really blessed. Baird gave me a chance when Michael slowed down racing, but I promise you, Michael is as good as anybody. When I saw the 18 on the board, I said, 'Oh s---, I better be on my game now. He's rolling around the bottom and ain't gonna miss it.'"
Key notes: It was Seawright's third career victory on the Hunt the Front tour, which ties Brandon Overton, Ashton Winger, Carson Ferguson and Zack Mitchell for most all-time on the third-year series. ... Two cautions slowed the 50-lap feature that lasted 17 minutes: Zack Mitchell on lap nine when he slowed out of 11th and 25th-running Christian Hanger on lap 20 when he spun off the racetrack in turn four right in front of Seawright and Gustin, the leaders. … Shane Clanton of Zebulon, Ga., was the race’s first retiree on lap five. … Friday’s Bama Bash winner Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., started ninth and finished sixth. … Among those who failed to qualify for the feature: Ross Bailes, Chris Ferguson, Ethan Dotson, and Tyler Erb, who made a special appearance in the Matt Tifft-owned No. 57.
On the move: Runner-up Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., started eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Seawright’s Baird Seawright Racing Longhorn Chassis is powered by an Andy Durham Racing Engine and carries sponsorship from Troy Baird Truck and Trailer Sales, Franklin Enterprises, Cove 2 Coast Marine, AGCOR Steel, Coltman Farms Racing, J&R Excavating, Houston Project, Grow Pediatric Therapy, Farm Systems, Inc., Lance Kittle Truck and Trailer Repair, CSR Performance Products, DirtCarLift.com and Freestyle Graphix.
