Jimmy Mars takes the checkered flag to win Friday's second feature at Gondik Law.
What won the race: Charging from 14th, Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., took the lead on lap 22 and led the final three laps to complete a rally worth $2,020 in Friday's second feature of the 17th annual Twin Ports Twin 25s at Gondik Law Speedway. Mars beat Rick Hanestad to the finish by 1.231 seconds.
Key notes: The second feature of the Twin Ports 25 featured a 15-car invert, putting Mars, who finished second in the opener, 14th and James Giossi or Roberts, Wis., who won the opener, 15th. … Fourth-starting Rick Hanestad of Boyceville, Wis., grabbed the lead early and held it until Mars passed him with three laps remaining. ... The race was slowed by one caution on lap 18 and was completed in just more than 12 minutes. ... After winning the first race, Giossi advanced six positions and finished ninth in the second feature. … No driver has ever swept both features in the 17 year history of the event. Mars won one of the Twin 25s in 2018 also. … The victory was the second of the season for Mars. He won on the opening night of the Masters weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway on June 11.
