Billy Moyer Jr. took his 10th career Summer Nationals win.
What won the race: Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., led all 40 lap from outside the front row at Butler Motor Speedway to capture his 10th career DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory. Moyer’s $5,000 victory came 1.628 seconds ahead of home-stater Chad Finley.
Quotable: "The car was really good. I told my daughter on the phone earlier I'd say her name on TV, so the pressure was on me when we didn't run heat races," Moyer said. "So I had to win this thing. I want to say hi to Hailie and Braxton, Skylar, my mom, my grandpa, everybody back at home. The car was really good."
Key notes: Thursday's program forewent heat races in a hurry-up attempt to beat inclement weather in the area. The top-four qualifiers form each heat transferred outright to the feature, as well as the top-three from the consolation race. ... Dona Marcoullier of Houghton Lake, Mich., finished third. ... Butler began the home stretch on the series in hosting the DIRTcar Summer Nationals for the third time in tour history. ... Butler's event follows Wednesday's postponement at Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, Mich., to Sunday ... Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., skipped the tour's final four races after already wrapping up his fifth tour championship.
On the move: Eric Spangler of Lake City, Mich., started ninth and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Moyer’s Longhorn Chassis has a Clements Racing Engine and sponsorship from Nutrien Ag Solutions, Dyna-Gro Seed, Mesilla Valley Transportion, Titan Motorsports, Tye Twarog Racing, Pontiac RV, Phillips CPA Firm, FK Rod Ends and Penske Racing Shocks.
Points chase: After Butler: 1. Bobby Pierce (1,306); 2. Payton Freeman (1,045); 3. Brian Shirley (1,001); 4. Joe Godsey (950): 5. Jason Feger (895); 6. Mark Voigt (760); 7. Billy Moyer Jr. (687); 8. Jeff Roth (679); 9. Ryan Unzicker (629); 10. Mick Quin (624).

Time: 15.549 seconds
Consolation race winners: Mick Quin
Provisional starters: Josh Robertson, Rusty Smith, Michael Archer, Nick Fenner

QUINCY, Mich. — Updates from Thursday's DIRTcar Summer Nationals event at Butler Motor Speedway, highlighted by a $5,000-to-win main event (results unofficial):

Feature

Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., generated the jump needed on the initial start to lead all 40 laps from the outside pole for the DIRTcar Summer Nationals win Thursday at Butler Motor Speedway, his 10th career series victory. Moyer’s victory was worth $5,000 and came 1.628 seconds ahead of Chad Finley of East Lansing, Mich. Finley had a final shot at Moyer on a restart with three laps, but Moyer was never seriously challenged for the lead throughout the feature’s duration, executing six well-timed restarts. Dona Marcoullier of Houghton Lake, Mich., was third.

Format change

With an incoming storm in the forecase, heat races ahead of the $5,000-to-win DIRTcar Summer Nationals main event at Butler have been scrapped, as the top-five from each qualifying group transfer outright to the A-main. Remaining participants will have to race through the consolation race.
