What won the race: Eleventh-starting Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn., utilized the low line at Whynot Motorsports Park, taking the lead on lap 34 and winning Saturday's House of Hook 50 feature. Welshan, the reigning Crate Racin' USA national champion, earned his third victory of the season and captured the current series points lead.
Quotable: “I mean to tell you the God’s honest truth, we ain’t done a thing to (the car) all night long,” Welshan said. “I ain’t never been here, this is the first time I’ve ever seen this place. I’ve wanted to come down here for the last four or five years and read and heard a lot of good things about it. We just ain’t had an opportunity to come, but man this Savage Race Car has been badass.”
Key notes: Welshan's team broke down 50 miles shy of the track, and racer Dalton Dowdy's father, Dale Dowdy, went to haul Welshan the rest of the way to the track. ... Sixth-starting Joseph Joiner led laps 19 through 33 before being overtaken by Welshan and settling for second, 6.805 seconds back. ... After leading 17 of the first 18 laps early, Jake Knowles traded positions with Hunter Lewis several times in the closing laps, prevailing to finish third. ... Trynt Lloyd and Oakley Johns each gained six spots, finishing seventh and ninth. ... Polesitter Jason Henry failed to lead a lap and finished eighth. ... Mark Underwood Jr. overcame a flat left rear tire on lap five, finishing 11th. ... David Williamson led lap two before fading to finish 17th, the first car one lap down. ... Saturday's feature, the first Crate Racin' USA national touring race at Whynot since 2019, was slowed by two cautions and lasted 19 minutes, with 16 drivers completing 50 laps.
