Dale McDowell (17m) races past Carson Ferguson en route to his Schaeffer's Spring Nationals victory at Rome Speedway.
What won the race: After battling alongside Sam Seawright for several laps, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., took the lead with an inside move on lap 17 and never looked back, cruising to win Saturday's $10,053 Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals feature at Rome Speedway. After finishing second in Friday's opener, McDowell notched his second win of the season and his 14th career Spring Nationals victory, further extending his all-time series lead.
Quotable: “The car was really good. We struggled a little bit early, the car just didn’t feel good and so finally in the feature on long runs, it was better,” McDowell said. “It was still a little bit tight, but definitely way better and I could run traffic, maneuver pretty good, so it was a good night for our E-Z-Go hotrod, so we sure appreciate it."
