Chad Becker races to a twilight victory at Brown County.
What won the race: Powering around race-long pacesetter Kent Arment on lap 24, 21st-starting Chad Becker of Aberdeen, S.D., led the remainder of Friday's 35-lap rain-postponed Repairable Vehicles.com Tri-State Late Model Series stop at Brown County Speedway. Becker bagged his fourth series victory of the season and the seventh of his career; he remains a perfect 3-for-3 in Tri-State action at his home track.
Quotable: “There’s a lot of motivation (to win) coming into tonight, I knew I was starting at the back of that deal. With (sponsor, Aberdeen Wings) here, I wanted to run good and I gave it everything I had and got it done,” Becker said. “(The outside line) took some cleaning off after restarts, everyone packed it in good, then I could rock for about five laps, then I had to move down. When I finally got to start on the top, I could really rail those guys.”
Key notes: Fourth-starting Mike Greseth reclaimed the runner-up spot on a lap-25 restart and trailed Becker the final 10 laps, finishing 0.437 of a second back. ... Arment, of Aberdeen, S.D., led the opening 23 laps from the pole before settling for third. ... Sixth-starting Scott Ward climbed as high as second from laps 14-19 before fading to fourth. ... Dyllan Ricks improved 12 positions and placed seventh. ... The 35-lapper was postponed from June 7 after rain hit just as the feature was ready to go green. The race was slowed by nine cautions and lasted 41 minutes, with 14 drivers completing the distance. ... Six of the original 27 starters opted not to return following the June 7 rainout and scratched: Tad Pospisil, Gary Brown Jr., Shane DeMey, Chase Gelling, Charlie Olsen and Corey Bosma.
On the move: Race winner Chad Becker, of Aberdeen, S.D., started 21st.
