What won the race: Pole-starting Matthew Nance of Ronda, N.C., scored a dominant wire-to-wire victory in Saturday's 40-lap second annual Taylor Tisdale Memorial at Laurens County Speedway. Nance secured a $5,000 payday and his first career Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series triumph — his first win of any kind since Aug. 19, 2023, when he topped a Blue Ridge Outlaw series stop at Lake View Motor Speedway in Nichols, S.C.
Key notes: Luke Morey and Dale Timms traded the runner-up spot five separate times, with Morey prevailing for good on lap 33 and finishing 0.914 of a second behind Nance. ... Timms settled for third. ... Two-time series winner at Laurens County Dennis Franklin slipped to ninth by lap 19 and retired on lap 31. ... The event honored Taylor Tisdale, of Laurens, S.C., a young racer who tragically died on Jan. 28, 2023, at the age of 18, in a non-racing automobile accident. ... The 40-lapper was slowed by three cautions and lasted 35 minutes, with eight drivers running at the checkers. ... It was the first series event since April 27 at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C.
