What won the race: Taking advantage of a lap-28 restart and sneaking by race-long leader Mike Knight, third-starting Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, Pa., led the remainder of Sunday's 41-lap seventh annual Mike Farr Memorial at Eriez Speedway. Hess secured the $4,100 Jay's Automotive United Late Model Series victory, the 12th of his career and his first since July 30, 2021, a $3,066 ULMS North triumph at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y.
Key notes: Knight, of Ripley, N.Y., led the opening 27 laps from the pole before giving way to Hess and finishing 1.252 seconds back. ... Lucas Oil Series regular Max Blair made a rare start close to home, but never ran higher than fifth before settling for sixth. ... Series points leader Michael Lake of Uniontown, Pa., finished seventh. Lake won Friday's $4,000 weekend opener at Bradford Speedway in Rew, Pa. ... After narrowly transferring through his consolation Bump Hedman gained 10 spots and finished 11th. ... The event honored Stephen “Mike” Farr of Erie, Pa., a former competitor at Eriez before transitioning to co-owning his business, Genesis Shocks; Farr helped NASCAR teams and local racers, but never forgot his former competitors in the Western Pennsylvania area. He died after complications from cancer on October 7, 2016 at the age of 65. ... The 41-lapper was slowed by five incidents and lasted 32 minutes, with 18 drivers running at the checkers.
