Devin Moran poses with his $5,000 winner's check at Lernerville Speedway.
What won the race: Devin Moran of Dresden, Ohio, rebounded in triumphant fashion from Thursday's flat right-rear while running second, rolling to victory in Friday's second 25-lap Firecracker 100 semifeature at Lernerville Speedway. The 29-year-old led the final 20 circuits for the $5,000 victory as he topped Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., by 1.589 seconds.
Quotable: “I mean, I knew it was hard (the racing surface),” Moran said. “I was kind of giggling about it. Everybody else was freaking out about it. We really didn’t do anything, didn’t change tires like everybody else did. It worked out in our favor. The guys did a good job.”
Key notes: Moran's victory was his third of 2024 on the Lucas Oil Series, but it was his first in a split-field event. It was also his first-ever win at Lernerville. ... Pole-starting Michael Norris of Sarver, Pa., led the opening five laps before jumping the turn one cushion and spinning off the racetrack while running second on lap seven. The hometown driver salvaged a 16th-place finish. ... Kyle Lukon drew the race's second and final caution on lap 14. ... Thursday's semifeature winners Ricky Thornton Jr. and Jonathan Davenport finished third and fifth, respectively. ... Combined points from both prelim nights set the lineup for Saturday’s heat races that precede consolations and the 100-lap, $50,000-to-win main event.
On the move: Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., started 14th and finished sixth.
