Sam Seawright collects the Ice Bowl trophy in Talladega Short Track victory lane.
What won the race: Sam Seawright of Rainsville, Ala., captured Saturday's 34th annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track in his home state, leading all 50 laps from the pole to top Josh Putnam by 0.814 of a second for the $7,500 payday. It was Seawright's first Ice Bowl victory.
Key notes: Sam Seawright became the first Super Late Model winner of the 2025 season. ... He's just the sixth homestate driver and first since 2015 (Tim Roszell of Coldwater, Ala.) to win the Ice Bowl. ... Florence, Ala.'s Putnam started third and finished second, showing Seawright his nose multiple times down the stretch and not letting the eventual winner lead by more than 1.626 seconds in the feature. ... Seven cautions slowed the 50-lap feature, six coming the first 12 laps: Andy Picklesimer for his opening-lap spin; Dillard Hatchet’s spin on lap five that collected Jake Herrell, Houston Spurlock, Rucker Orr, and Lance Brasington; Brandon Hargrove’s spin on lap six; Jake Herrell’s spin on lap 12; Rucker Orr and Ace Claborn tangling on the lap-12 restart; and the lap-29 melee in turn two involving Jensen Ford and Matthew Taylor. ... Thirteen drivers finished on the lead lap. ... Christian Hanger and Kody Frame scratched.
On the move: Dillon Tidmore of Gadsden, Ala., started 10th and finished fifth.
