What won the race: Sneaking by early pacesetter Cole Perine in the race's opening stages, third-starting Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., led the remainder of Saturday's 50-lap, 37th annual Earl Hill Memorial at Tyler County Speedway. Carpenter captured his second straight $5,080 Hill Memorial payday and his fourth win of the season at Tyler County, all coming in DIRTcar Super Late Model competition.
Key notes: Perine, of Lowell, Ohio, led the first handful of laps before giving way to Carpenter and slipping to finish fourth. ... Driving the No. 37 C.J. Johnson Motorsports Rocket Chassis normally piloted by his brother, Jared Hawkins finished second, 0.783 of a second behind Carpenter. ... Zack Dohm settled for eighth after registering a third-place finish in Friday's World of Outlaws Late Model Series event at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. ... The event honored Earl Hill, arguably the most successful Dirt Late Model racer in the history of Tyler County Speedway. Hill amassed over 300 feature victories en route to earning the first track championship at Tyler County and likely holds all track records from his era. ...
